Please, Get it Out of the Gutter!

I’m a huge photographic book fan. When you come to my house, you’ll be greeted by shelves and shelves of them, collected through the years.
There has been a lot of time perusing the stacks at local stores like Hennessy and Ingalls and Arcana.

Here’s a question to all of the book publishers though……why the heck would anyone want to put a great photograph in a book and split it between 2 pages with critical imagery stuck in the gutter?? (see photo) Yeah, the gutter: that space where the pages meet the binding. Continue Reading »

After many years of attending the Cannes Lions Advertising Festival, this 54th edition seemed to have a new slant: what the heck is changing and do we really have to pay attention? Instead of an emphasis on film executions, the eyes have shifted to a bigger picture: The Titanium Awards– marketing efforts that cross all lines and create a message that reaches the customer where they hang out. Tony Granger – From the Cannes Lions

We caught up with Tony Granger, chief creative officer of the Agency of the Year- Saatchi & Saatchi New York, at the Cannes Lions.
In the busy lobby of the Carlton Hotel on the croissette, Mr. Granger spoke with us about digital photography, art directors, and more. A 25 year veteran of the ad industry, he brings an insightful look into photography from the ad agency perspective.
