Weekly Giveaway – Ahhhh, so THAT’s what I need it for.

[photopress:products_shootsac.jpg,full,centered] Last week we posted a video about a camera bag called a ShootSac. When we first saw it at PhotoPlus, conceptually it worked. A strong bag for using on the go at an event. And it could be made to appear unobtrusive.
Although, honestly, that’s good for the stealth ,but not needed when you need to be seen as the person there to make a real photograph, not the casual shooter.Food for thought as we continue.

Which brings us to this:

This past weekend helped out friends and covered an event held in a hotel with huge presentations rooms, filled with seats. Now it was easy enough to set the main gear down, but when a move was required from one side of the room to the other for some variety and coverage, who wants to drag a main bag all over? There’s enough stuff to carry around.

That’s when it hit me – this is why the ShootSac was invented. If I had one of these, i could have loaded an extra lens, CF cards, Batts, and maybe a flash into an easy to carry, lighter weight unit and leave the main gear in a safe and secure place. I could’ve moved around covered, instead of wondering when I should make a pit stop and change lenses. Or if my phone was cool, sitting elsewhere in my jacket (it gets HOT in these places.)

If you want to give back in a photographic way…….

I believe that people are inherently good.

To help people, to right a wrong, to reverse an injustice, to see a situation and want to recruit others to help change a condition. We have that inside of us. All of us.

There is always that intention, anyway. Whether the action comes to fruition, or attempted fruition, is another matter.

In everyone of our communities, there is something that can be fixed. Assuming you can reveal it in a way that illustrates what’s broken. In a powerful, visual way perhaps that inspires the viewer to action.

Years ago, Blue Earth Alliance, was created in part by Phil Borges, to help photographers, with a passion project, achieve a path to realizing that outreach to the world. To help right that wrong. To shine a spotlight on an injustice.
To make a difference.
Now they have not been setup to give you money. They help you create the toolbox to help you get to the right place. And each toolbox is unique.
Take a look at this video for a look inside:

Give a man a fish, feed him for a day; teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime.

If you feel that you have a photographic project that this team can help you with, or you need an advocate to get your photographic message to the next level, go to Blue Earth Alliance.
They are always looking for good projects.

Hey,Where the Heck Did That Thing GO?

And by thing, I mean article/video, and by go, I mean…it’s not right in front of me.

When we publish an article on this site’s HOME page, it goes only back a total of 6. That you can see, anyway. Most of our videos are available at YOUTUBE or on the VIDEO page in a higher quality format (flash).

But thanks to our search engine you can look for ANY past article by subject or word. See if we even wrote about that subject. or what we had to say.

Another way to check things out is to go to our Categories block on the right hand side of the HOME page. You can pick a category and see what we had in the past.

Why the heck are we telling you this? Because enough readers have asked about previous news or perhaps a video that wanted to see.

Check it out. Let us know what you think. Heck ,it’s the weekend. take a little stroll.
More video tomorrow.

Yes, just it inscribe it to ” My dear friend……….

And that’s what our winner this week will be doing when he publishes his first book of photographs, courtesy of BLURB.COM, inscribing his book to the fans.
Congratulations Nick M. from Heresford, England! Well done.
What will your book look like?

Wait til you see what we great freebies have for your next week! Just make sure you are signed up for the NEWSLETTER to be eligible.

Hmmmm….what else should I bring on the road?

So we’re cruising around on youtube to see what we can see, and we totally forgot about this dude: Chase Jarvis. He’s a pro photographer who’s been making some pretty decent videos about things you may like to know about. Some real practical stuff.
Like this:

Now there are some things in the video that we don’t endorse (like lacie, prefer G-Raid) but for packing on the road and having a compact setup for your rig with mirror backup and viewing considerations for clients, this is a sweet set-up. (although heat was a question, they say it’s been good for over a year, no worries.)

Customize with your favored products and fit to your budget.

Thanks Chase, wish we had this today at the shoot. Next time we will.
