Remember to sign up for the NEWSLETTER if you would like to be eligible for the free stuff. We just want to find out what you like and this is the best way we found to do it. Kind of a win-win.
Love giving these goodies away.
But we learned something.
Time zones can be a problem.

So, here’s what we are doing next week: There will be one item for those on the North American continent, AND something JUST for the NEWSLETTER subscribers around the world. Let’s see how that works. Just trying to take care of everyone with these things.

For those on the North American Continent Only, a great book we discovered last year from Aperture :
Uncovered by Thomas Allen
He takes these pulp fiction novels, creates a 3D scenario telling another story, and the, in a very uniquely photographic way, shoots the scene making an image that will draw you in.

“Inspired by a love of pop-up books, Allen revels in taking on different roles in creating his scenarios: “In addition to being a photographer, I play talent scout, casting director, stage manager, lighting supervisor, and film editor.” He photographs these engaging tableaux in shallow focus, rendering his prints with the dreamy effect seen in the View-Master stereoscopic toy that also inspired him.” Aperture

The rest of the world is being offered one of my favorite books ever. [photopress:029thefamily.jpg,full,centered]
The Family Of Man is the book that turned me onto photography at 8 years old. The visual telling of the human condition from birth to death in cultures form around the world is a book that should be in every library. Period. When you click on the link, you’ll see how many books have been written just about the show.

It was first a photographic exhibition in 1955 at MOMA, curated by Edward Steichen. I can go on and on about this book/exhibit and I will during this year.
But you should have this book. We’ll be sending 2 of these to our friends around the world.

And remember: jump around the site and see some of the other offerings, and let us know what YOU’D like to see here.

Richard Jackson (pictured above) of Hance Partners Professional Darkroom of Flagstaff , printed all of the work in the show using Ilfordchrome (nee Cibachrome). Yep, an old familiar name seems to partner great with digital technology.
Stop by the gallery to take a closer look and see for yourself.

Announcing our Second Photo Contest – This Time for an iPhone!- Deadline Extended!

Hi All- We have just extended the deadline for the iPhone till July 2, 2008 to allow for the latest and greatest iPhone to be unveiled. The winner will get the newest model.

The ways we share our digital photos is increasing everyday. Trite statement? Perhaps.
But it’s true.

Digital picture keychains are sold at every mall kiosk, sharing sites are becoming the natural way to recap events.
Digital Picture frames were one of the hottest gifts for this last holiday season. You can now wirelessly download pics to a frame from a multitude of share sites.
Camera phones have become a standard way to shoot and send your life in pictures.

So what we would like to do is give you one of these new screens, one of the coolest ones out there:
Yep, the latest iPhone. And see what images you would put on there.

But this time it’s a contest where we’ll ask you to submit a group of images that will live on that size screen size that is approximately 2” by 3”.
*You can add an audio track, titles, etc.
*There is no length specified or required but remember the audience.
*It can run as a program or live as a group of still images. Remember that one of the features of the iPhone is that a still image can be “pinched” bigger, or moved around. Think about that in your submissions.
*All sets or programs should be submitted via YouTube. It’s pretty easy to get an account to upload.
And since the iPhone has it’s own icon for YouTube, it should be an easy share for the winner.
*Just make sure you have the tag “photoinduced2” on the upload.
This way it will be easier for the judges and yep, everyone to check out the work.
*The contest will run from now till July 2th at midnight, giving you plenty of time to submit.
And be able to get the latest iPhone.

(please note this contest is for the iPhone unit only and not any service related expenses. You retain all copyrights, however Photoinduced.com reserves the right to post the winning entry on the site. )

So go to apple.com to see a video demo of the phone so you know what kind of a screen you are working with. And yes, we will ship the correct phone to be used wherever iPhone has service. Or wherever you want.

Good Luck. We can’t wait to see the entries. And I think I speak for all of us.

We’re here for any questions you may have about this. Drop a line, anytime.

A Little Breather and a Look at the Stacks

A few years ago, I saw a series of photographs in a LIFE magazine annual.
A dad had taken a photograph of he and his daughter at the shore. every year till she grew into a woman.
The camera to subject distance was the same. The changes as she grew up and he grew older, were a time lapse series slowed down so you could see these two loving people at each juncture.

The final shot was just the daughter as an adult, and it was one of the most touching moments of the series, as you knew that the father had died and his daughter was completing the series.

Since seeing that set of images, I always look forward to seeing the yearly images of the children and friends in my life, in the holiday cards.

Which brings me to today.

Put you feet up and let’s look at why we are all here. The photograph.
