Good, Fast, and Cheap…Pick 2

Well, it’s all cheap. So it comes down to good or fast.
Right now we have low res youtube vids that load fast.
We’re looking at posting the higher quality vids from the VIDEO page, on the HOME page with the articles.
Love us our YouTube, and all of the videos will be available there as well. But the questions for all of you are…

How long does it take to load in the higher quality?
Does it make a difference to you?
Would you prefer to have YouTube on the home page and choice to go to the video page for a higher res and larger screen option?

There are 3 articles below with videos.

Shoot us a quick email and let us know at damonw@photoinduced.com
Thanks for your help on this.

From the Land Of Wonder, The Land Down Under : Crumpler Bags

(Remember: visit the our VIDEO page for ALL of our current videos)

Lot’s of choices out there for your camera bag needs. And each job, or outing calls for something different.
Many times, for the street shooter the goal is to NOT look like you have thousands of dollars worth of gear. Crumpler Bags fit that bill.
Originally a messenger bag company, they have an extensive line-up of cool innovations for the photographer.

(and for the YouTube version, click here)

Take a look at this video and pay special attention to a couple of things that we feel are incredibly smart:
The snaking velcro divider in the rolling bag allows you to custom secure and design the interior of your bag. Takes care of one of our main frustrations in bags. And in the last bag design, there is a velcro silencer for the more stealth photographers. the designers at Crumpler gave it a more whimsical bent, but the purpose is clear.Yes, we will be switching our straps to these new ones. You try hanging a DSLR with a 70-200 on your shoulder all day.

And as we always suggest: go to your local camera store and bring in your gear, and fit it to the bag you need. It’ll be a happier thing
in the long run.

Last word on Crumpler? Built solid, look cool.

Isn’t it about time for some photographic fun??

You bet it is.

After going to all of these trade shows, we see some of the latest, greatest tools to make your photographic life better.
Sometimes there is a product that is just fun. And I mean for everyone.
You, and the people you are photographing.

Forget Soap-On-A Rope: How about Camera-On-A-Stick ? Only really good?

The XShot has taken what you probably think is a simple idea. And made just the right product, It’s one of those “ why didn’t I think of that”?

Well, you didn’t and these people did, and did it great.

I have used this to come into a family scene and include myself into all of the shots. The XShot itself gets people curious and it becomes a different deal than the standard pose. And now I’m in a family album.

But here how is how it may have been originally concepted for use:

OK, you’re on vacation and you want to get the shot of your and your travel mates (nice, and general right?) in front of whatever icon of your trip.

The 2 of you in front of the castle, cliff, building, sign, WHATEVER!
And that dude you are considering giving your camera to take the shot seems ok, but somewhere in the back of your mind you may be thinking ” he may just bolt and there goes my camera”.
Fine, maybe you’re not that paranoid. Or suspicious.

What this XShot does is allow you to put you camera on a well-built telescoping metal rod with a tripod like mount at the tip and take your own dang picture.
By a simple usage of the self-timer, you’ll be a pro at this in no time.

I personally used it with a Sony DCS-200 with the smile recognition so it only took the shot when we smiled. Love that.

Here is a video of someone who used the video feature of a digital camera and made this: Continue Reading »

OK, What’s In The Bag?

When we met with the folks from BuzzFoto, Henry Flores and Brad Elterman, they sat down with us and gave us the straight story on a lot of things paparazzi. Today we’ll look inside the paparazzi’s camera bag.
It’s not often you get a chance to see a real working photographers gear choices. From digital cameras to lenses and a surprise or two, there are some good learnings for street photographers here. Paparazzi or not.
