From The Land of Aaron and Rosie – The Love Story Continues

Yes, as promised, and with the permission of the artists/couple, we bring you another installment of the Aaron And Rosie story.
Remember? We told you about this couple who met online via a Flickr 365 days self portraits, and fell in love.
It’s an awesome photographic love story that has found followers all over the world.
We’re sharing it here as a very unique tale, told though visuals.
And as in every love story, there are the secrets revealed and the layers of the onion pulled back, so to speak. It happens here in a photographic manner.

You should go to the site for the full story on this one. We just wanted to give you the heads up.
And we’ll keep bringing you new images from this talented team.

And they teach, too. You can take an online course from this couple and learn how to use the tools that they use. You probably have the software, but their instruction will open you mind a bit.

Honestly, it is a pleasure to bring you a story about love and creativity. Let’s see how it develops. (so sorry for that, but it just came out)

And The Hits Will Continue to Come…PDN/PhotoPlus Expo Starts in NYC This Week

This is a great week for photography in NYC. Between the Lucie Awards tonight at Lincoln Center, to major photo auctions, seminars, talks, meet and greets, culminating at PDN/PhotoPlus at the Javits center. And we’ll be joining the festivities a little later this week, bringing you the highlights and a whole slew of new videos.
Along with all of the gear at PhotoPlus, there are lectures and special events.

If you are in the city, try to make this one. It’s a bit limited on seating, (300) but worth your best efforts to make.
Dang, hope I can get a seat now!.

A Little Thing To Make Your Workflow A Little More Pleasant

[photopress:Picture_44.png,full,alignright] Not a plug-in, or a secret formula, a piece of gear or some new software. And you already have the gear you need.
what we are talking about is a real cool site for music on the internet that will be the background groove while you work away on your editing, cataloging, and general Photoshop projects.
It’s called PocketRadio, and director Jeffrey Plansker is the brains behind this one.

I know….but is this PHOTOGRAPHY???

It sure is a help to us, as we work, so we thought we’d share. Brilliant collections of tracks, put together by some very genius, creatives types.
With a varied, and eclectic category list, each DJ has created a terrific run of solid, commercial free music, to get your head into the right place, and make your work flow, flow with a better groove. Worth a check. We’re digging Glassslippers, right now.
Uh-huh, we’re soaking in it.

Weekly Giveaway – Saul Leiter Book

We brought this to your attention a few weeks ago and we wanted to make sure we secured a copy for you for the weekly giveaway.
You see, in the world of photography book publishing, unless there is a huge general market for a book, the printing runs are fairly limited. So it may happen that by the time you want to buy a book, it’s either out of print, hard to find and expensive, or now and again, it’s gone to the remainder pile. Or, it is so popular, it gets reprinted.
Such is the case here – the Second Printing
When we first got the word that Saul Leiter was having a renaissance, we immediately went to find the book. It was a tough one to locate, and very expensive.
Thankfully with a bit of research a reasonable price was found in Europe and a copy was ordered.
Holy Moly.
This book of photographs by Saul Leiter is simply amazing. Published by Steidl, so you know the quality is very high, the images are breathtaking.
These rarely seen images are gathered here from this 84 year old artist, who insists on his near anonymity.

“I started out as a fashion photographer. One cannot say that I was successful but there was enough work to keep me busy. I collaborated with Harper’s Bazaar and other magazines. I was constantly aware that those who hired me would have preferred to work with a star such as Avedon. But it didn’t matter. I had work and I made a living. At the same time, I took my own photographs. Strangely enough, I knew exactly what I wanted and what I liked.”

Nikon Gets Into Broadcasting Online – Some Tips with Carson Kressley

Well, first they had Ashton Kutcher, playing a party dude with his Nikon. [photopress:look_good_in_pictures.jpg,full,alignright] Now they are teaching you some simple tips in photography with Carson Kressley.
Remember him? One of the guys from “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” Now he has a show called “Looking Good Naked”, and we think this is the tie-in.
Click here to see the videos.

Quite honestly, I think it’s a great concept from Nikon. Helping casual users to use the gear they own, to enhance their photographic life, is a cool thing to do.
OK, he teaches you about the Rule of Thirds in the first episode.
But the manner he teaches it in, is so tongue-in-cheek (watch it!), that some of the not so subtle adult moments, may put some folks off. Time for another look at the edit?

We’ll keep watching and see what happens. Get your tinseltown angle on snapshooting, right here.
And if you wanted to have a better photo for online dating, maybe this most viewed video will help you.
This is meant for the snapshooter, and is going for the simplified teaching methods.
Still happy about taking a trip to MyPictureTown, and that sharing site is going strong.
