“I Like to Watch” murmured Chance Gardener
Thus spoke Peter Sellers character in “Being There”
And we hope you like to watch as well.
From the archives of Leigh Wiener is a great episode of ” Talk About Pictures “, an Emmy winning show he created, which aired from 1978-1981. Plus an interview from his later years.
Very much like what the Charlie Rose show became, this across the table interview style, gives us great insight into these masters of photography, some long gone.
From IMDB: LIFE magazine photographer and television producer Leigh Weiner and host George Fenneman interviewed the top photographers of the day while reviewing their best-known shots.
His son, Devik, is the keeper of the archive of this incredible photographer. From a chance meeting on a film set, we spoke, and he has allowed some of his father’s work to be shared with you. Including this TV show and interview. A true blast from the past, although the Museum of Radio and Television could/should be hosting this series, we are very proud and honored to share this with you on photoinduced.com.
There is a goal attached here. The masters of this show are primarily on 2″videotape.
Yeah. videotape. and yeah. 2″
Maybe a couple of machines are left from that era, that can even play them,The tape does deteriorate. And the sound needs to be leveled and cleaned.
So, there is a search for angel investors who can defray the cost of preservation of these amazing archives which are a very important part of our photographic history.
A huge thank you to Devik Wiener for these fine additions to the video page.
