Resuscitate your creative spirit today: Support your local art galleries.
After a long week in the world, one of the best ways to refresh your mind and spirit is a visit to your local art museum or galleries.
Truly.
Yesterday was spent at MOCA in downtown Los Angeles. Was there a photography exhibit there? Not exclusively. There were some very cool images from William Wegman circa 1971. Prints were, quite honestly, not very good. But they were part of the recent acquisitions.
Just proves again that the image is the thing. Opening you mind and heart to another artists work can inspire your own inner muse. Or tingle those synapses that react to that unexplainable part of your artful brain.
BONUS!
There were great things in the museum store. A book by Stephen Shore on photography based loosely on his teachings at Bard College. The link from the TATE also has an interview with Mr. Shore. Another plus.
And this great item: Muji black mesh pouches. What is so good about that?[photopress:muji.jpg, full, centered]
We spoke last week a little about traveling and the gear you bring. One thing that vexed me (how’s that for minorly obscure verbiage?) were the 4 small bags with cables, chargers, batts, cards, etc. I carried. What was in what bag,as I changed locations?
Solution? Mesh bags that will tell me what is each one in a glance. Muji makes a ton of simple, useful products that you should check out. And ecologically mindful company with some cool, clean designs across their line.
Cheers!
