March 17th, 2006

There is a book of photographs that should be in everyone’s library. The Family of Man was a photography exhibit curated by Edward Steichen, shown at the Museum of Modern Art in 1955. More people saw that exhibit than any other show of photographs.
Before OR since.
This book remains in print to this day. In essence it is a show represented by over 250 photographers from around the world, illustrating the human condition within many cultures, and the common elements in all. I can’t describe the power or intensity of this book in words. I do suggest that you pick up a copy.
Amazon Books has a great price on this right now.

We will from time to time recommend books we have seen on the stacks.
If you have a book that you feel should be shared with the group, please feel free to write in and we’ll post your review.

Happy St. Patricks Day!
