PhotoPlus Expo – some quick advance notes-

So tonight we saw some of the items being presented tomorrow at PhotoPlus Expo during a press preview.

Fujifilm
had some pretty cool “face detection” software built into their cameras. You’ve got to see it to understand how cool. it “sees” faces ( the algorithm sees 2 eyes and a nose). It saw my face no matter where I went (probiscus issues?) but added in others as they presented all needed elements.

Nikon had a true Wi-Fi point-and-shoot with deals coming for free subs with T-Mobile and Starbucks involvement.(hot spots and all that).

I think I saw my new image management software in IView. Low hard drive usage for program and more based in DVD or external hard drive storage for images. I like that.

The question came up regarding ” how come more people don’t calibrate their monitors?”
Is it the phrasing? I think when people who have plunked down a ton of dough for a great DSLR and a high end printer, they should expect the best looking prints.
BUT….you have to make sure the monitor and printer are all speaking the same language.
Color Calibration units. Thats what it takes. And the software that comes with it.

More from the floor as PhotoPlus Expo begins tomorrow.

Cheers!
