CES 2015 Notes: Sometimes, you need perspective
Yes, Photoinduced is all about the image.
Sometimes I’d like to share things about the tech world that could affect you down the line. Or give you a viewpoint about the industry that the photo world deals with in different capacity than a PhotoKina or PhotoPlus East.
So I go to CES in Las Vegas every January to get broader viewpoint on all things tech.
Las Vegas used to host the PMA tradeshow. It has dwindled in size from previous years to have a smaller footprint, to not being visible. The manufacturers of the brands you love in photography have become integrated with the larger trade show. 39 Football fields worth. Even Fuji, who didn’t have a booth there , made a major lens announcement during CES. And we shared Nikon’s announcement about the new camera and 300MM lens
I did meet with many of photo related companies, and also other folks that you may find interesting.
Here is some insight from Robert Heiblim, Vice Chairman of the Small Business Council of the CEA (which represents the largest number of firms: about 80% of CEA all under $200MM) and the Vice Chairman of the Audio Division of the CEA. Founder and Principal of BlueSalve, a consulting firm for the electronics industry.Mr. Heiblim meets with clients after every CES and does a download of the event, with an informed, valuable, perspective. I think the info he was able to present here is of value.
First up: discussion of the Internet of Things
Then, we talked about marketers:
This was just a taste. More vids from CES will be posted on the YOUTUBE page. And yes, there will be more about the photo gear we saw.
