Rare Opportunity to Meet, Mingle, and Learn from World Renowned Photographers
and Instructors Through an Extensive Series of Seminars

NEW YORK, NY — October 3, 2013 – The biggest names in photography will come to New York to celebrate the 30th anniversary of PhotoPlus Expo, and for three days share a lifetime of lessons learned through a series of seminars that will leave attendees inspired and ready to put their newfound knowledge immediately into practice. Referred to as “the largest photography classroom in America,” PhotoPlus Expo — October 24-26 — will conduct more than 90 seminars, and panel discussions with more than 130 world renowned pros who are ready to share their expertise and tips for success through informative and inspirational discussions and awe-inspiring imagery.

PhotoPlus Expo provides attendees a rare opportunity to attend a wide range of creative, technical and business seminars conducted by the world’s very best pros, conveniently located under a single roof. A small sampling of presenters this year include, Joe McNally, Art Streiber, Jody Quon, Gregory Heisler, Douglas Kirkland, James Estrin, Guy Aroch, Cliff Mautner, Corey Rich, Lynn Goldsmith, Olivia Bee, Ed Kashi, Ron Haviv, Tyler Stableford, Brian Storm, Chris Boot, Lou Jones, Zack Arias, and Alex Buono, to name only a few.

“The world’s most respected photographers, instructors, and creative pros all attend PhotoPlus Expo to teach, as well as to learn,” explains Lauren Wendle, vice president and publisher, The Photo Group. “The opportunity for show attendees to learn the latest techniques from the best image makers in an environment that is inviting, intimate, and reciprocal, is what makes PhotoPlus Expo the most exciting 3-day event in the photo industry.”

Attendees can view the list of extensive seminars during PhotoPlus Expo by visiting the seminar schedule online.

In addition to seminars, and panel discussions, attendees should add the daily keynote presentation to their schedules including Astronaut Dr. Donald Pettit (Thursday), photographer and musician Mark Seliger (Friday), and photographer and storyteller Rick Smolan (Saturday). Keynotes will be presented each day from 12:00 noon — 1:00 p.m.

Thursday, October 24

1:30 — 3:30 p.m.
James Estrin, Ben Lowy, Diana Markosian
Making A Living as a Young Photographer
James Estrin, co-editor of the New York Times Lens Blog will moderate a panel of young photographers who will discuss the different approaches they’ve taken in trying to forge a career as an editorial and documentary photographer today.

4:00 — 6:00 p.m.
Cliff Mautner
Creating Texture, Dimension and Mood with Light
It’s all about light. Natural light, artificial light, directional light, harsh light, flat light, dim light, no light, too much light. Knowing how to use various types of light is the key to creating texture, dimension and mood with your images. Join Cliff Mautner as he empowers attendees with a crash course on creating dramatic images in various lighting conditions and share a range of techniques that you’ll be able to take with you and implement right away.

4:00 — 6:00 p.m.
Corey Rich
Evolving Your Craft: The Path From Still to Motion
Corey Rich provides a step-by-step explanation of how to transition your career from still photography to motion, and discusses the skill sets you can use from still photography to build a creative approach to motion storytelling, along with the equipment and technical skills needed to enter the filmmaking world. The goal of this presentation is to help attendees build a profitable business based on the foundation of still photography with enormous growth opportunities in the filmmaking world.


Friday, October 25

1:30 — 3:30 p.m.
Lynn Goldsmith
Rock and Roll Stories
Lynn Goldsmith shares how her career took shape and what it takes to build a successful career in portraiture, especially celebrity portraits. In stories to accompany her images, Goldsmith takes you into the photo studio, the tour bus, the concert hall and the streets. Her photographs, her reminiscences and observations are filled with tips about how to get the subject to do more than what’s expected. Come armed with questions—at the end of the session there will be time for a question and answer session with the audience.
