Wait..you mean that ANY digital camera can upload snaps wirelessly to Facebook with this???

Yep, that’s right. After being mentioned on TECHCRUNCH a year and a half ago, the Eye-Fi 2Gb SD card is now shipping. Just in time for the holidays.[photopress:eyefipressx.jpg,full,alignright]

So here is the deal: The SD card works in any camera that uses that format (sorry Sony), you download the software to you PC or MAC, shoot em up, and when you are near your network or another wireless zone, except Hot-Spots we’re told, you images float up to your chosen account.

And we’re talking support for sharing and printing websites, including Fotki, Shutterfly, dotPhoto, webshots, phanfare, Picasa Web albums, flickr, TypePad, Wal-Mart, snapfish, VOX, smugmug, facebook, photobucket, Kodak Gallery, and Sharpcast.
So all you do is buy the card, install the software,no other fees to pay EVER. Click on the card image above and check their video.

When you’re out with your friends and feel the need to share, this is the unit you want. OK, you probably want to check what you shot first. Or get to a computer to get anything incriminating off. You know what I mean.

Now at this point it, they do not have a CF version, nor will it upload RAW files. I know what some of you were thinking. A very affordable way to shoot an assignment wirelessly. Kind of, but even large jpegs may not be the fastest things uploading .
I hear they are testing a CF adapter next week though. And we’re going to be working this pup and give you all of the pros and cons as we discover them. Takes using it for a bit though. Here is one users review.

I think what we have here is a fine holiday gift for the point-and-shoot user, and heavy share social networking junkie. Did I mention we are now on Facebook?

The festivities will begin soon enough, as we begin to close out the year earlier and earlier, and raise a glass or share a meal.

Make sure the memories you save are shared. They are sweeter that way.
