Weekly Giveaway – Oh Yeah, This is the Book I’ve Been Waiting to Do!

As we laid out a week ago, one of the best products we saw at PDN/PhotoPlus was not a new lens or a camera body, although there was some great new tools in that arena.
Let’s take it to the next step of the process: The images.
And past that, how about publishing your own book of photographs and then selling it to the world?[photopress:blurb_logox.jpg,full,alignright]

Blurb.com makes it real easy. Check out this link and video. Basically you get free software (PC or MAC) tons of layouts and options, use whatever fonts you already have, add a dustjacket, endflaps, go over 400 pages if you like, publish, and then you can sell the book either on your own site or the blurb.com bookstore. Or let your clients buy a beautiful copy of the assignment. Here’s the best part: once you have published one book, subsequent orders are printed as ordered! And Blurb.com handles all of the commerce for you.
Easy peasy.

And this week, we’re giving away one book for free! The winner this week will get a code valid for $30 off (or a free 8×10 or 10×8
hardcover book), good through the end of the year. Pretty cool. Maybe this is the perfect idea for that gift you wanted to make for someone very special.

I know there are a lot of choices out there for this. But this company takes it to the next level for sharing your work. And making a little dough.

Here’s how the giveaway will work this week: First of all, you MUST be signed up for the NEWSLETTERNEWSLETTER (once signed up your are eligible for all weekly freebies.) It comes out on out on Wednesday. If you have signed up, it’ll come into your email inbox sometime that day, depending on your time zone. (9:00 AM PST)
When it gets there, read the email and click the links for a recap and new news from the site.. Then hit reply, delete the body of the email (saving server space) and then put the giveaway word , Found in the NEWSLETTER, into the subject line, add a shipping address, look at your bookshelf and imagine your work among the rest, and hit send. The 31th person to respond will get the secret code, allowing them to publish their first book. For free.

The winner for the book from last week Paris—New York—Shanghai
