Woah. It is an overwhelming exhibit of some of the finest photography in over a century of the art. And many of their classic images, so even if you think you may be unfamiliar with an artist, their iconic photographs will give you the warm fuzzies of recognition.

As the summer winds down, it’s the museums that’ll be a great respite from the heat.They bring out the hidden treasures of their permanent collections for the visitors or tourists, to show off what they’ve got. It’s a lot easier to show what you have, than mount a new exhibit.

The galleries are closed because most of the people that buy the work are on vacation. Can’t blame them. It’s a business.

Also currently at the museum is an exhibit entitled Present Tense:Photographs by JoAnn Verburg

. The strength of this show, is in the hanging. The way the rooms are set, and the placement of the images further plays on the diptychs and triptychs theme that pervades her work. In one room there is a collection of images that, on their own have a life, but in a collaged sort of arrangement on the wall tells a much richer story.So it’s a show to see in person if you can. The accompanying book is fine but was a disappointment after the show.
