It’s Wednesday, time for a breather.

And how do we take a break at photoinduced.com ??

Oh yeah, check out the latest photographic book to hit the table. [photopress:bresson.jpg, full, alignright]

Henri Cartier-Bresson Scrap Book
is one of the most incredible experiences I’ve had in recent memory.
I was totally bummed that I wasn’t getting to New York ,ICP, to see this exhibit in person.

In brief: during WWII, Cartier-Bresson was presumed dead and a posthumous exhibit was planned. However as we all know , he was not dead, but captured and soon to be free.

OK, this exhibit is the show HE would have done, and did in a scrap book. One of the rare times that he printed his own photographs. True.

This show (we told you about it ) has recently closed and it was the only showing in this country.

Ordered the catalog and it just arrived today. Thank goodness for the quality of book printing available today. The cover is a little soft, but forget about the technical.
The story here is the journey of the man who was the father of the “decisive moment” , a man of extreme mystery except for his images.

Along with essays, letters (from Beaumont and Nancy Newhall
and Cartier-Bresson ) musings on this, his most prized grouping of photographs, you have reproductions of the pages with the images as original set.

The truth of the quality of the prints is impeccable.

My favorite part is the layout. Clean, each image or small group is laid out with respect on each page. Nothing in the gutter. I’m sure I’ll rant about that type of layout another time.

I know, I haven’t told you exactly what the images are. That is for you to discover.

Cheers!
Damon Webster
