Let’s start with the cover…….

Finish your shopping for everyone on your list? Maybe the next few days should wrap it up ?

Maybe it’s time to buy yourself a little something. Heck ,you’ve been working hard.

We’ve got just the thing:

Chuck Close – A Couple of Ways Of Doing Something

This book has been sitting on my coffee table for 2 days and i can’t stop looking at it. An oversized book with photographs made using the historical photographic process of daguerreotype.

[photopress:1597110183.01.IN04._SS400_SCLZZZZZZZ_V34680437_.jpg,full,centered]

In 1999, Chuck Close began taking photographs using the process, working with Jerry Spagnoli in his New York studio. Over the next two years he photographed Cindy Sherman, James Turrell, Gregory Crewdson, Elizabeth Murray, Kiki Smith, Ellen Gallagher, James Siena, Laurie Anderson, Philip Glass, Cecily Brown, Lyle Ashton-Harris, Bob Holman, Carroll Dunham, Lisa Yuskavage, Andres Serrano, Elizabeth Peyton, Terry Winters, Lorna Simpson, Robert Wilson and himself for this book.

Lyrical and concrete praise poems by Bob Holman, a celebrated New York School poet, were written to accompany these photographs and were completed in 2001-2003.

Oversized , (15×12) but thin. Only 56 pages.

But I can’t stop looking at it. The cover image is so incredibly striking. And each portrait reveals and relates to the poetry beside it.

You should go to your local bookstore and take a look at this. Or just trust me, and order one up.
