Disco Years- Ron Galella

Probably best known as the photographer who was issued a restraining order forcing him to keep his distance from Jackie O., Ron Galella has a new book out.
Of course, there were other haunts and prey in front of his lens.

Grace Jones celebrates her birthday in 1978 at Le Farfalle, also in New York, with, among others, Divine.

But these folks desperately wanted their picture taken.

In Disco Years, Ron Gallella shows us the side of the fabulous 70’s that perhaps looks more decadent and decaying that even we knew.

His paparazzi work cuts very close to the bone as we scan the images from a time when The ET’s and Access Hollywood weren’t around and it was the tabloids and gossip columnist that let us into that world.

Is there a better time between the two? Do we need to have every move of our temporary icons covered?
I just don’t know.

For a perspective on this in a Hollywood way, we have a copy of the movie Paparazzi for the 10th person to email us at:damonw@photoinduced.com with the word…you guessed it…Paparazzi …in the subject line and a shipping address.
And remember only one entry per person please.

Cheers!
Damon Webster
