Arnold Newman Archives Finds a Home in Austin,TX

“The Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center at The University of Texas at Austin has acquired Newman’s archive, including all of the artist’s negatives, slides and color transparencies, all of his contact sheets and more than 2,000 prints. The center will also hold Newman’s sittings books, clippings files and correspondence, plus early sketchbooks and photographic albums.”

One of the greatest portrait photographers of the past century, Mr. Newman died earlier this year at the age of 88.

The main innovations he pioneered was what has been termed environmental portraits. In other words incorporating the subjects true environs in the image.

OK, thats an explanation of images that you should really have a look at. Heck ,it is a visual medium.
